**BIDMEXICO
has worked with these workers and hundreds more to find
them better opportunities in Canada. BIDMEXICO intends
to bring over 1000 workers this year to Alberta, numbers
depending only on the needs of Alberta companies.
Advantages
of bringing workers from Mexico:
Workers
from Mexico have some advantages that we would like to
point out:
•
Geographical proximity, which makes for far fewer problems
with cultural adjustment, and lower airfare.
•
The Canadian Embassy in Mexico City has one of the fastest
processing times for Temporary Foreign Worker Permits
of Canadian Embassies in the World, by far faster than
many other countries, with 76% of applications successfully
completed in a week or less, 87% in 14 days or less, and
94% 28 days or less. ( See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/15-temp-workers.asp
for comparative processing times and success rates of
applications in different countries. ) Fast processing
time means workers get to Alberta and their new jobs quickly.
Unlike the Embassies in many other countries, the Embassy
in Mexico City hardly ever rejects candidates; candidates
are only rejected when there is a good reason for rejection.
•
The working conditions, hours of work, salaries, and benefits
in Alberta are far superior to those in Mexico, giving
Mexicans great motivation to come work in Alberta and
for their work to exceed their employers’ expectations
when they arrive. Mexican workers work quickly and are
generally enthusiastic about overtime work, as they are
expected to work quickly and work overtime without extra
compensation in Mexico. Many entire industries in the
United States could not survive without their Mexican
labourers. Canadians have yet to take full advantage of
this excellent pool of labour only because of a past lack
of intermediaries to cement the relationship between the
two countries.
•
Mexicans can enter and exit Canada as tourists without
having to apply for a visa; therefore, Mexican low-skilled
workers have no motivation to use a work visa only as
a means to enter the country and then abandon their positions
or to try to overstay their permit, as has been the case
with some temporary foreign workers from other countries.
Mexican professionals can also come work in Canada relatively
easily under NAFTA, so they do not have much motivation
to try to enter under the low skilled work visas and then
try to stay to practice their professions (as do professionals
from other countries); BIDMEXICO brings over only Mexican
workers suited to the area of the company hiring them,
and there are plenty of these workers interested in coming
to Alberta.
•
In association with AHLA, BIDMEXICO is currently setting
up the Canadian emerit tourism training program ( www.emerit.ca
) in Mexico to provide certification in two programs:
Housekeeping Room Attendant and Food & Beverage Server.
Mexican workers with these certifications will be available
shortly for Canadian companies interested in hiring them.
FEES
As
required by law, BIDMEXICO charges fees to companies who
are recruiting, and no fees to workers for our services.
BIDMEXICO is aware of, and follows, all federal and provincial
regulations for recruiting; our clients appreciate our
knowledge and adherence to the law in this regard, which
prevents future legal problems for our clients. Our fees
vary depending on the job sector, the skill level of the
worker, and their level of English. The more workers a
company recruits, the lower our fee per worker; it is
more cost effective for a company to recruit larger groups
of workers or more at once. Please contact us for specific
information on costs.
WORKERS
BIDMEXICO
recruits only from Mexico since we are only able to conduct
interviews within Mexico. Please do not send resumes if
you are from another country. We also do not work with
other agents in any country; we have our own staff in
Mexico, so that we can assure to our clients that all
provincial and federal laws are being followed in regards
to the workers we recruit for them.
